The plugin Theme Switch and Preview helps in easy switching of the wordpress themes with a simple drop-down box widget in sidebar. The plugin sets perfect for the users having an online portfolio, can make their visitors for an online demo preview for the theme.
The plugin has three basic configurations, that is Only Admin, Only with Passkey and Everybody. The configuration Only Admin, allows only administrators to switch over the available themes and preview them. The configuration Only with Passkey prompts your visitors / clients for a passkey in order to switch and preview the theme. Lastly, the Everybody configuration allows everybody to switch and preview the themes available.

I think, this is not best solution for portfolio blog. Better way is to do standalone demo-blog and using plugin like Wordpress Theme Demo Bar Plugin or etc.
