Upgrading WordPress to WordPress 3.0 [How to]

Many of you who all are geeks here are must be knowing how to upgrade WordPress right way. Upgrading WordPress is easy but I would suggest if you are not geeky and can’t play with database for restore, you should try to avoid upgrading WordPress yourself.

Few days back WordPress released WordPress 3.0 and many of you who were planning to merge their multiple WordPress blog into one, must be looking forward to upgrade their blog to latest 3.0 version of WordPress.

Here I’m sharing step by step guide which you can use to back up your blog.

Backup your blog Database:

First step I strongly suggest is take a complete database backup of your blog. This will ensure if something goes wrong, you can always save your blog.  You can use plugin like wp db backup to backup your WordPress blog.

One Click WordPress Update:

Click on Please update now button on your wordpress dashboard to go into page to update your WordPress blog to latest version.

Now on the next page you will see the warning message to backup your database and files and as stated in step 1, I believe you have already taken the backup. Now click on Upgrade automatically.

Now if you have followed everything right, you will get successful message saying: WordPress upgraded successfully

That’s it and now you are on WordPress 3.0 version and play with various features of WordPress 3.0 and specially multi-site features of WordPress 3.0.
