I assume you have bought hosting and domain (1 Free domain) from Dreamhost. If so, read further. In this tutorial we will be taking help of fantastico to install wordpress on your hosting. Fantastico makes it simple 2 click process to install wordpress and you can start using it right away.
Login to your Cpanel of Dreamhost and click on Free Website software.
On the next option click on Install new website software advanced mode. There are two options beneath advanced mode, one on which database will be created automatically and one in which you specify the user and password for database. I prefer the second method.
There are plenty of software which you can install with one click. In this tutorial I will be helping you with installing WordPress on Dreamhost. So Select the WordPress option (Default).
The options in this screen are self explanatory.
First option is select the domain name on which you need to install wordpress. Uncheck the second option, by default it will be checked. Now you can create a database name, hostname and user to access database. Keep a notepad handy and keep a note of all the details here like database name, hostname and user and password you have created. This you may need after sometime when you will be accessing database. But in normal cases, you may never need to access your database. Still good advice will be keep a note of everything you are doing.
So if you have done everything as explained above. Within 10 minutes your wordpress will be installed and you will get confirmation email on registered email. There you will get the next steps to follow. Hers is what i receive and steps taken after.

Enter the Blog title and Email address. Make sure you check the box which says allow my blog to appear in search engines. Cross check your Email address and click on Install WordPress.
